U.S. Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable)’s (MEU(SOC)), Maritime Special Purpose Force, prepare to depart the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Mediterranean Sea, July 28, 2023. The Marines are headed to Bahrain to conduct training on a wide range of capabilities. The 26th MEU(SOC), embarked with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, continues to maximize training opportunities across the Marine Air-Ground Task Force while on a scheduled deployment as the Immediate Response Force and Tri-Geographic Combatant Command Crisis Force within the Fifth and Sixth Fleet’s area of responsibility.
